Biography

Welcome to get to know Janne Ohtonen. I have told here shortly about myself and there are some links available to follow for more information. Education

I graduated from the Linna high school at year 1998 and then I went to study in Oulu Polytechnic. At year 2003, I graduated as international Bachelor of computer Engineering (BE). As a final thesis I did software design for local car factory about the subject of material handling and book-keeping. The designed software was realized with J2EE technology. After the polytechnic studies, I went to the Turku University to study Master of Science (M.Sc.). My major there was information systems and work informatics and as a minor I had Chinese business, culture and language. I graduated in year 2008 as a Master of Science. After that I continued my studies at Turku School of Economics (TSE) as a Ph.D. student. I am writing thesis on Business Process Management Capabilities (BPMC) and I hope to graduate in near future. Professionalism

I have been working hard since I was a little boy and therefore I have plenty of different kind of job experience. As a younger boy, I was working in a local gas station as a salesman. Then I moved on to disc jockeying and bar tendering and since 1995 I have been doing web pages professionally. I stopped deejaying at year 2003 after almost ten years of international career. I have worked also in a computer store as a salesman and in mobile phone store. Since year 2002, I have been doing fulltime software planning and designing. My main resposibilities were software architectures, team leading and project management until 2010. After that year I have been working as business process management consultant and coach. I give speached in puvblic events about improving organization and striving for better business. My motto is: "Helping organizations and individuals to succeed". I do that by using the best methods for both business and individual development.

Skills

I have been using computers for a long time. I did my first program with Commodore 64 in 1980s and then moved on programming Commodore 200. That was quite hard stuff for a young boy and I didn't program much more before year 1995 and the boom of Internet. I participated the first organized HTML programming course in my hometown and started to making web pages. Thus, I used have skills for using many kinds of programs and to do many kind of programming. I have spent time on getting familiar with all kinds of theories and philosophies behind the software industry and making better software. I have a keen eye for quality and implementing the software in the "right" way: supporting the business. Design patterns and software designing theories are interesting to me especially combined with social sciences and business aspects. I am very interested in combining IT possibilities with business processes. Last years I have been learning skills on high-end business and individual development.

Community activities

Social responsibility has always been fascinating. I have taken some steps to make things better in the community, that I have been part of. Mainly my concerns have been on my immediate environment , which means houses that I have owned flats from and students unions, that I have been part of.
